What I am about to give you is a golden opportunity for me to get my message out and this is where I get my motivation from.  I have lived in Las Vegas since 1979 and I am a 53 year old transplant from Columbus Ohio .  I moved my family here because the construction trade here is booming.  When we moved here the population was only about 300,000 however now it is approximately 2,000,000.

Since 1971 when I turned eighteen years old I joined an organization called the Fraternal Order of Eagles.  The Eagles is a nonprofit charitable organization, but more than that we are an organization that raises money for seven major charities through out the United States and Canada .  Our slogan is that we are “People Helping People” and we are very proud of that.  I have been very active in the Las Vegas Aerie #1213 since 1997.   I went from Outside Guard to Inside Guard, Conductor, Chaplin, Vice President, President, Past President, Trustee- to Chairman of the Board of Trustees.  I have been through all of the Nevada State chairs as well and I am about to become Nevada State President over all of them.  The Eagles has always been apart of my life.  And I have always enjoyed through out the years its many functions that we have put on, for charities and attending its many conventions in so many different states.

“However I am currently on a different kind of MISSION and I can assure you that this MISSION will be an everlasting one.  While I was attending a State Convention in Lovelock Nevada I was informed by the Las Vegas Coroner’s Office that a tragic accident took place to my one and only SON while he was riding a bicycle.  The coroner went on to explain to me that Doug Jr. was involved in a vehicular bicycle Hit and Run homicide. That tragic event took place on 4/29/04 and it has been a struggle ever since.  Your child is just not supposed to go before you do.  My son is the first thing that I think about in the morning when I wake up, and he is the last thing that I think about in the evening before I go to sleep.  He left behind a Son, named Chase Douglas and Chase lives with his other grandparents.  We also know now that he left behind another Baby that he never had the opportunity to see.  When my Son passed on I was informed about this other Baby, and that the young lady had named him Jacob Douglas.  So we had D.N.A. testing done and the results turned out to be 99.9% positive that Baby Jacob was my Son’s.  The Baby was five months old then and he had been in foster care along with his mother since he was born.  So I talked it over with my Girlfriend and we made the decision that the Baby needed to be with family.  So I decided to adopt the Baby.  Then I notified Baby Jacobs case worker and I received the opportunity to bring the Baby home within days of my decision.  “Chase is a little young boy whom my son loved very dearly.  When Chase was born, I knew that he would be special, but I never really knew at the time just how special. “WOW” Baby Jacob the same way and I do mean that literally, because I know my Son would of Loved to still be here with both boys, and to be able to share with his family all of life’s beautiful moments that a Father and Son share.  Chase will be eight on October 4th and Jacob will be three on September 2nd, these two little boys were brutally robbed of Fatherhood.

Due to the circumstances of my Son’s death, I have talked to several Attorneys, Detectives and any one who I thought would be able to help me find out what happened to my Son, and in return I received no answers.  I thought, I thought and I thought about the situation that puzzled me, and I decided that changes needed to be made, but I could not come up with any answers.  Then one night everything came to me in a dream, and I strongly believe that my son had something to do with my dream.  An idea was put in my head to enhance the (Share the road sign) that is already out there.  So I knew then right away that I needed to get my message out to inform the public that, the roadways needed to be shared Denver Share the Road signsafely, and to honor people who have died in roadway accidents.  Let me ask you a question, how may times have you heard on the news, radio or read in the paper about a fatal accident that happened involving a Pedestrian-Truck-Car-Motorcycle or Bicycle  my guess is quite frequently.  I really don’t know what happens in all other states but I can assure you that it happens in Nevada on a regular basis…  Its about time for changes, and we need to implement a program that really works. And I know in my heart that this program will work and it will help save lives. The public needs to be impacted by a sign that will really hit home.  The old sign looks like this one and it is called Share the Road.

My proposal is to put a sign on a poll where the loved one or loved ones have died on our roadways.

And these signs will be called S.T.A.R.S. and this is what these signs will look like….      S.T.A.R.S. ….   stands for Share The Asphalt Road Safely.  All of our S.T.A.R.S. signs will be completely free to the public, because we are a Nonprofit-Charitable-Organization.  And we will also be putting on many free seminars to promote roadway safety in schools and other public places as well.

At this time I would like to deeply Thank You for the opportunity for allowing me to be able to share my life, thoughts and dreams with all of you.  You can receive more information from our web page at www.starsforeverinc.com.

  Sincerely
